Generation Bridge
TIME differentiates the gap among generations and gives birth to many questions. Recently, I was thinking about the relationship between my younger brother and myself which is running on parallel lines, standing over and also representing two different generations within the smallest duration of time. I feel that my mental distance with my parents has taken its position by 30 years approximately, but now, morals or ideals are changing very radically. In a sense, it could be a result of our modern, developing, digital or so called civilized life. We can look forward to positive approaches, which will work as a bridge to minimize the distance.
Firstly, school is the best place to help overcome this problem among the students and teachers; because the largest part of one's educational life is spent here as they realise their own characteristics, behavior, attitude and so forth. So we can call this time as an evolving period of a person. Teachers, family members, friends all should share openly while discussing any social or personal matters. Secondly, seniors should be more conscious and play a greater role to address this issue. Moreover, young people are ready to accept any kind of change in their life style and they get habituated with the new culture. For example, we can focus on hip-hop songs or rock songs in our Bengali language. All are going crazy about such style but seniors are on the opposite side, the tendency to neglect young choices, views, thoughts etc. This causes a mental distance between the two generations. It is the duty of seniors to try and understand why all are going for a particular change. Then our education system needs a total reformation, which could show the way to make a person comfortable with his or her own choice and responsibilities.
There are some other points which should be included here for further discussion. We are always growing with the established theories about good life, better career, good personality etc which I think are not mandatory to follow. For me, one has to go for his or her own comfort zone where he or she will be the king. Thus one can ensure his or her best performance.
